About
With pick up available all around Sicily's eastern coast (including Taormina, Catania, Syracuse, and Ragusa), we'll take the scenic route to Agrigento, passing through Sicily's little-visited interior and stopping in the pretty towns of Caltagirone and Piazza Armerina, home to the stunning UNESCO-listed Villa Romana del Casale archaeological site.
We'll first drive to Caltagirone, using the scenic road that passes through the Hyblean mountains. The scenery is lovely, so we'll have time to stop periodically and enjoy it. Caltagirone is a cute town famous for its high quality ceramics, which make for great souvenirs.
After we stretch our legs and enjoy a coffee in town, it's about 40 minutes further to Piazza Armerina, driving through wheat fields, almond groves, and olive trees.
Once we arrive, we'll head straight to Villa Romana so that you can tour these incredible Roman ruins. Here, you can explore on your own or I can arrange for a good local guide to meet you (I am not a local guide so cannot guide in these types of sites). The guided tour takes 2 hours.
When the tour is finished we can head to lunch at a great local spot.
Our last leg of the trip is a 1.5 hour drive to Agrigento, on a good quality road. We'll arrive to your hotel some time in the early evening.
Please note: this tour can also be done in reverse, with pick up in Agrigento and drop off in Eastern Sicily. You can specify your pick up & drop off locations when booking.
