About
Hilltop Montepulciano, my home, is the "pearl" of the Italian Renaissance, and one of the most ancient towns in Italy, dating back to 400 BC!
So let's explore this historic and beautiful place - its municipal buildings, churches, and noble palaces, all studded with wonderful works of art - while also trying some great local foods and drinks.
We'll enjoy a nice walk through the center, meandering down the town's main street before arriving at the square, Piazza Grande, the center of town. As we walk, we'll stop at some local artisans' shops and studios; the local coppersmith, a great potter, and a master of mosaics. Here, we can chat with them and listen to their stories, and of course see their work!
During the tour we will enjoy some great culinary stops, tasting the local specialties and traditional treats: cold cuts, delicious cheeses, great wines, several bites of truffles, and of course… EVOO (olive oil)!
Our tour will end with a visit to the underground historical wine cellar where the delicious Vino Nobile is still aged naturally since centuries ago. The Vino Nobile is among the best D.O.C.G. wines of Italy, a deep, intense, bold red produced in very little quantities and well known all over the world.
