Paolo is originally from Lecce, but is now based in Matera, in the neighboring Basilicata region. He’s been guiding travelers around his home region and most of Southern Italy for almost 20 years.
Paolo is an avid cyclist, slow food enthusiast, and a big fan of helping travelers experience Puglia far from the tour buses and packaged itineraries. A proponent of traveling in one’s own backyard, when not guiding (or after a trip!) most days you’ll find Paolo on his bike exploring rural country roads and forgotten villages, or on the hunt for the best local restaurants.
If you want to discover Puglia’s secrets and connect with the region beyond just the highlights, Paolo is your man!

Hello everybody! If you are reading this it means that you are planning a holiday in Puglia or Basilicata. What can I say? Excellent choice!
Here is where you can still have an authentic and 100% Italian experience! After more than 20 years of guiding I can help you to find the most interesting sightseeing for you, but also to have experiences where you enjoy local food, wine, crafts, the outdoors, entertainment, and of course fabulous beaches.
I have lived almost all my life in Lecce, but I am an addicted traveller; no matter what means of transportation I can find, my aim is to explore and that is the way of living my life. Now I am based in Matera, an amazing UNESCO site, and, beside having here my girlfriend, it is also a perfect location to go exploring all of Southern Italy.

We had a wonderful private walking tour with Paolo in Bari. From the very beginning, he made us feel welcome and immediately brought the city to life with his knowledge, warmth, and humor. Paolo shared so many fascinating stories about Bari’s history, traditions, and daily life, blending historical context with local insights you’d never find in a guidebook. What we especially loved was how personal the experience felt. Paolo tailored the tour to our interests, answered all of our questions, and even pointed out hidden gems we would have easily walked past on our own. His passion was contagious, and by the end we felt not just like visitors, but like friends who had been shown around by a local who truly cares. If you’re visiting Bari and want to go beyond the surface to really understand the culture, history, and soul of the city, we can’t recommend a tour with Paolo highly enough.

Our tour contained some interesting history of the town and access to some sights we would otherwise not have seen. Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, however, was distracted by a family issue and spent a lot of her time checking her phone and attempting to make calls - which made the information provided feel disjointed. We felt our guide was not fully engaged with us and the tour. Repeated comments regarding the negative impact of tourism on locals and the area were excessive- this energy would perhaps have been better directed to enhancing the tour experience.
