Found in the very heart (center) of Sicily, the Roman Villa del Casale boasts arguably the most extensive and visually striking mosaics from the late Roman era of anywhere in the world. Designed in a truly fascinating style that was heavily influenced by North African art, there's nowhere else quite like it.
The Villa itself stands out for its utter opulence, but its the exception mosaics, which adorn nearly every room, that are the showstoppers.

To begin, we'll set off from the Palermo area and will drive toward Piazza Armerina, about two hours away. The scenery is quite interesting and very different from what people typically picture for Sicily, and we can stop along the way at the extremely impressive hilltop city of Enna (sometimes called "Il Belvedere" - the viewpoint - for how it towers over its surroundings).
From Enna, the 2nd-century Roman Villa is just a short drive away. There, we'll spend about 2 hours touring its rooms, halls, and of course, the mosaics, which include the impressive hunting scene and the famous sporting bikini girls.
Following the tour of the villa, we’ll head for lunch in one of the excellent local restaurants in Piazza Armerina, another impressive and historic hill-town.
After lunch, we'll return to Palermo.
