On this full-day tour we'll cover most of Venice's "must dos" and major highlights. We can't see everything in just a day, but we can certainly see a lot!
What exactly we do depends on your interests and the itinerary for this tour always changes. But... to give you an idea, here's a general outline of what we can accomplish in a day:
We begin the day in Piazza San Marco admiring one of the world's most beautiful squares. We then head to the Doge's Palace and tour its interior, learning about the "Most Serene Republic of Venice", the Doges, and the city's long history. Next, we pop inside Saint Mark's Basilica to see its stunning works of art. This will take us 2.5-3 hours.
Now, back outside, we'll head off into the city, exploring the sestieri of San Marco, San Polo, and Santa Croce. We'll pass by iconic places like the Rialto Bridge, Rialto Market, Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo, Teatro La Fenice, and countless lovely churches, squares, and bridges.
We can of course stop at some point either for a real sit down meal or just some snacks as we wander.
If you're not interested in visiting the Doge's Palace and Saint Mark's during the tour, then we can extend the route to include either the very local sestiere of Cannaregio (home to the former Jewish Ghetto) or art and artisan-studded Dorsoduro.
