Dorsoduro is one of Venice's most elegant and culturally rich districts, and this is the area that we'll explore together on this tour. Located along the southern edge of the city, it offers a unique atmosphere, quieter than the bustling center, but still full of artistic energy and historic charm. Home to the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, the area is filled with contemporary art galleries, artisan workshops, and authentic boutiques.
We begin our walk by admiring one of the most iconic panoramas in Venice from the Accademia Bridge, a perfect introduction to the beauty of this sestiere. As we wander through its peaceful streets, you’ll gradually discover why Dorsoduro feels so different from the rest of the city.
We'll make our way to see a traditional squero (one of the few remaining boatyards where gondolas are still built and repaired), a rare glimpse into Venice’s maritime heritage. Along the way, we’ll enjoy what I consider the best gelato in Venice, admire stunning views of the Giudecca Canal, and walk all the way to Punta della Dogana, where the panorama opens toward St. Mark’s Basin.
The tour concludes with a visit inside the magnificent Basilica della Salute, built in 1630 as a votive offering after the end of the plague, one of Venice’s most iconic and dramatic landmarks.
