Venice City Center Walk with Saint Mark's or Doge's Palace

This tour combines a walk through Venice's city center neighborhoods with a visit to one of its marquee sights: Saint Mark's Basilica or the Doge's Palace.
It's very similar to my "highlights and hidden gems" tour, but we do a bit less walking so that we have time to visit the Basilica or Palace.
We begin the tour at whichever sight you choose to visit, both of which are in the center of the city on Saint Mark's Square. If you choose Saint Mark's Basilica, our visit inside will last about an hour, leaving us 3 hours to explore the city after. If you want to visit the Doge's Palace, it takes roughly 2 hours, so our walk through the city center will be shorter.
After our "sight visit", we'll go for a walk through the San Marco neighborhood, passing by iconic places like Scala Contarini del Bovolo and Teatro La Fenice. While this is Venice's busiest area, it's also studded with stunning architecture and many of the city's most beautiful palaces and churches.
Where we go from San Marco depends on how much time we have, but we'll generally head to the charming and lively San Polo area which is home to many beautiful churches, gorgeous architecture, and pretty squares. This is also where you have the Rialto Bridge and the Rialto Market, so we'll visit both. The endpoint of the tour depends on where we walk (and how fast), but will always be somewhere convenient in the city center.
This is a great tour for just about anyone, but especially those who want to get a good orientation for the city and visit one of its most important monuments.
