Roberto has been leading guided tours all over the Campania region for more than a decade.
Having obtained his bachelors degree in Cultural Heritage, a masters degree in Classical Archaeology, and a post-graduate diploma Archeological Heritage, he is uniquely well-qualified to help visitors discover and experience the archaeological sites and ruins of this region. He’s been a licensed guide since 2011 and has welcomed thousands of travelers to Campania, the Amalfi Coast, and beyond.
A native of Salerno and a practicing archaeologist, his specialty is touring the region’s ancient sites such as Paestum, Pompeii, and Herculaneum. A proponent of the Slow Food movement, which aims to preserve and promote traditional local cuisines, Roberto also loves taking his travelers to local restaurants, farms, and producers who create delicacies found only in Campania.
Please note: Roberto works with a small team of fellow archaeologist-guides, so even if he isn't personally available he can usually have a well-qualified colleague cover for him. His colleagues can give tours in French, Chinese, and Russian, in addition to Spanish and English.

Welcome to Campania and the Amalfi Coast! My name is Roberto and I am an archaeologist and authorized guide of the Campania Region. I live in Salerno, a characteristic sea town located between the paradise of Amalfi Coast and the charming Cilento.
I have been an authorized guide of the Campania Region since 2011 and I am also a practicing archaeologist, having worked all around the Mediterranean sea at sites like Populonia (Livorno, Italy), Paestum (Salerno, Italy), Olbia de Provance (Hyères, Var -France), Efestia (Lemnos, Greece), Phaistos, (Crete, Greece).
As a guide, my goal is to share my knowledge in the fields of art, history, and archaeology with those seeking to understand the incredible historical and cultural richness of the Amalfi Coast and greater Campania region. I try to bring these ancient archaeological sites to life, and show them in a way that doesn't feel stale or distant.
But the region is also more than just what we can see from the past! So I also run tours to our bustling cities and towns (and beautiful islands). While the Amalfi Coast is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy, with a good guide you can still get away from some of the crowds and see what authentic local life here is like. And that's what I aim to do when exploring cities like Naples, Sorrento, and Salerno!
I also collaborate with the Slow Food movement and am passionate about our culinary traditions, so I'd be happy to take you to try lots of great local treats and share some good restaurant recommendations.

Francesco was a fantastic guide. Very informative and had everyone engaged. A personal tour through Pompei is the way to go. It was easy to book and we walked right in. I would absolutely recommend this company to anyone. Thank you Francesco!
