About
The Royal House of Savoy lived (and ruled) in Turin from 1563 through the 20th century. An important family in Western Europe, they were Italy's only Royal dynasty and were crucial to the history of Italy, especially as a major force in Italian unification in the 19th century. Simply put, you can't understand Turin - or Italy - without understanding the House of Savoy.
So that's what we do on this tour; by visiting their gilded and opulent Royal Palace, we'll learn the history of the dynasty, the city, and Italy. The palace itself is also a visual delight and we'll enjoy the dazzling decor inside the Royal Apartments, the Chapel of the Holy Shroud, and the spectacular Royal Armory.
We'll also discuss many beautiful works of art, the artists who created them, and what everyday life was like for the Royals and the people who worked for them.
